My Platform for Ward 7

One way is by creating a lobbyist registry — a basic tool that would let residents see who is meeting with their elected officials and why. I believe transparency is not optional. If elected, I will advocate for a public lobbyist registry, record all my meetings with developers and lobbyists, and publish that information proactively.

Ward 7 residents deserve to know whose interests are being represented at Town Hall.

Thousands of new homes are being built in northern Ward 7, yet school and daycare infrastructure has not kept pace. Young families are moving into Glenorchy and surrounding communities to find waitlists for daycare spots and overcrowded schools.

As your councillor, I will work with the Town, school boards, and the province to ensure growth comes with the services families need.

I will request a ward-level safety audit — tracking which of the current streets, intersections near schools and pedestrian areas have the most complaints and incidents. I Will also demand new road and pathway designs in Ward 7 developments include safe pedestrian crossings before occupancy is approved.

Ward 7 is slated for significant intensification. I support smart growth—but growth must be matched with roads, parks, transit, schools, and services. Approving developments without infrastructure commitments puts the cost on existing residents.

Violations of height bylaws and seeking exemptions that work against the community's well-being are entirely unacceptable.

I will advocate for development charges that fully recover the cost of growth, reject predatory zoning workarounds, and hold developers strictly accountable to their commitments.

As Town Councillor, I cannot direct Halton Police — that is outside the role. But the councillor's seat is not powerless on safety.

However, every new development in Ward 7 goes through a site plan approval process at Town Council. That process includes conditions — requirements a developer must meet before residents move in. Better lighting. Secure parking design. Clear sight lines. Camera-ready infrastructure. These are legitimate, enforceable conditions that a councillor can push for and vote on. Too often they are not required because no one at the table demands them.

I will require crime prevention design standards as a condition of every major development approval in Ward 7, push for Ward 7 crime data to be presented publicly at council so residents can see the real picture, and vote to fund the community safety programs that help our neighbourhoods look out for each other.
